Twonky and roku12/27/2023 ![]() You can then import music CDs as normal (they by default import into the music directory under iTunes, under qmultimedia). I also disable let iTunes automatically manage my music library. Only one mac can have iTunes open at any one time.also make sure that the library is fully closed before turning your mac off (it takes longer for iTunes to shut when using a library file not on the local hard disk). ![]() Make sure iTunes is configured to the exact same library location on each mac. Make sure that your macs open the qmultimedia share using the same directory mount point. Hi, All you need to do is copy over your iTunes library file and music folders into the qmultimedia folder on your QNAP. I have been using Firefly and iTunes, which works well together - because the Firefly periodically and automatically scans the iTunes library to build it's own playlist. I appreciate it's not an issue with the QNAP, more an interoperability question between iTunes and Twonky. Surely there's got to be an easier way than this - this is really quite painful. However, this means that I have to import CDs and then manually copy over the subsequent mp3s over to the QNAP AND use TwonkyManager (or something similar) to build a parallel music library AND do the same in iTunes. I can see how I point iTunes to use this mp3 music source and build a local library file on the Mac (and then allow the other Macs to share using the iTunes server in QNAP). I don't fancy pulling them out of this format and into a flat directory structure, because a) it will take me ages and b) is going to be impossible to manage. At the moment, they are organised in iTunes format, which is typically by Artist and Album (in subfolders). It appears that I have to copy my mp3s onto the Qmedia directory. Has anyone successfully managed to get this sort of set up working before, because my suspicion is that it's not possible to have iTunes manage the Qmultimedia folder (unless I build separate m3u playlist and link to each individual subfolder - which is going to horrible). This suggests that I need to put the music files into the Qmultimedia folder, but the formats are very different. However, I also want to use the same source files so that my PS3 can connect to the Twonkyserver (for both pictures/photos/videos and music - but let's just keep it easy with music for the time being). ![]() This is relatively straightforward because I can redirect my iTunes library to the QNAP (although it appears my 2* Apple Macs get upset when they both try and manage the same music library source). ![]() This means iTunes needs to to be able to access my files directly. My set up is: QNAP 219P (running iTunes server and Twonky) Roku Soundbridge (will connect to either iTunes or Twonky/UPnP) PS3 (will only connect to Twonky) 2* Apple Macs Lots of iPods My problem is that I'd like a single music library source! I need iTunes to: a) import CDs b) manage libraries c) copy files to iPod - I appreciate that I can use LAME for a) but I'd prefer a single interface for everything. Hi, I've looked on this forum and I cannot find a post that has specifically answered this point, so I'm wondering whether you can please point me in the right direction.
